Spirituality is notoriously difficult to define, as is evidenced by the plethora of definitions that can be found in literature dealing with the topic. I have been interested in spirituality, especially Christian spirituality, for a number of years. Just over a decade ago, I trained as a spiritual director in order to help people explore and understand their spirituality. (I will blog on spiritual direction in the near future.) Let me introduce my definition of spirituality. It is as follows:

Spirituality is the system of meaning animating and integrating one’s life. Developed from relationships with significant others, it is expressed through one’s beliefs, values, and behaviours.

Have you considered your own spirituality? Is your spirituality religious, or non-religious? Are your beliefs, values and behaviours consistent with the spirituality you espouse?

  1. a nise thing to see spirtual photos

  2. I have considered my spirituality. My spirituality is nonreligious for God is nonreligious. God is open to all people. I have very little beliefs. The power of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to heal and empower all the world’s people are my beliefs.
